The FES was founded in 1964 as an initiative of a group of leaders from Valle del Cauca interested in creating an agency to promote efforts for higher education.
One of its first assignments was to work for the University del Valle in the management of national and international resources with the aim to strengthen them. FES subsequently expanded its scope set itself the target country's social development was created in 1973 as well as scientific research group.
The gradual growth in the financial management of resources from national and international flights to the beneficiary institutions favors its classification of financial intermediation, constituted in 1975 as Commercial Finance Company to the Banking Superintendency.
In 1983, the FES was formally constituted as a legal entity, and as a Foundation, for the purpose of promoting programs at national level with international support on issues related to Health, Education, Environment and Economic Development. In 1999, the Commercial Finance Company was made official and was separated from the FES Foundation, it remains dedicated to social development activities.
During the past 10 years the Foundation, and especially the health and education teams, have continued their work. Thanks to the skills of these teams and their capacity to manage resources, the FES has worked with international partners and important organizations like:
